A few weeks ago, our friend Toni told us about a 5K run to raise funds for the Footprints Ministry that helped her family during the illness and subsequent passing of their infant son, Matthew, last year. Dan and I thought this would be a great way to help this worthy ministry and encourage our walking/running at the same time. While Desmond did not join us (he had a baseball practice game to prepare for), Lauren and Max both jumped at the opportunity to participate. We were honored to be a part of "Team Matthew" during the race.
Lauren and I teamed up with our friend, Pam, from church and encouraged each other to run when we could (none of our little team are runners). I was thrilled to finish in 44:00 minutes. I know that may not sound like a great time for many people, but it was for me! Now that I know I can actually finish a 5K, I want to do another!
It was a successful day with about 300 folks registering for the Footprints to the Finish Line 5K run. I was happy to be a part of it all:)
*many thanks to Cheryl D. for the picture she took of us after the run, shown above (Again, I forgot my camera!)
