Today was Honors Day at WHS, so that is where Dan and I were at 8:00 am this morning. The program began with the seniors walking in, in pairs of their choosing. Lauren walked in with her dear friend, Alicia, who will be attending Faulkner University in the fall.
During the course of the morning, Lauren was called forward four times. She received scholarship offers from both Auburn University (where she plans to attend in the fall) and The University of Alabama. She also was called forward to announce her other scholarship offers from institutions that did not send representatives (Samford University, The University of Montevallo, Queens University of Charlotte, and Huntingdon College). I am saving the best for last, though. She received a scholarship that was a surprise. She was one of 6 students to receive the Olive Speer Harper $2000 (renewable for 3 additional years) scholarship awarded through the Elmore County Community Foundation.
Congratulations, Lauren, we love you!
