new things

A baseball glove and a  trophy -- those are two new things that have come to the Adam household over the past week.

Last weekend while I accompanied Max and a group from his school to New York City (yes, an educational trip -- which I will prove in an upcoming post), Dan decided that Desmond would be able to be a better shortstop if he had a new, larger baseball glove.  So, one of the many places they visited while I was gone was Academy Sports where Des picked out a his new glove.  I guess my sweet husband knew exactly what he was doing (as always), because Des was much quicker getting the ball out of the glove and on to it's next destination (first or second base) at his game this past Saturday.  It was one of those "sit on the edge of the bleachers" games where his team, the Yankees, came from behind for a win.  Whew!

Our second new thing was a bright, shiny trophy.  Before Dan took Des to his game Saturday morning, I left with Max to head to AUM (Auburn University in Montgomery) so that he could compete at the Alabama Council for Technology in Education (ACTE) Technology Fair.  Since Max placed 1st at Regionals in the IT (Information Technology) test, he was able to compete at the state level.  He took the test around 10 a.m. and then we hurried back to Wetumpka in time to catch the last half of Desmond's baseball game (using the new glove, of course).  I think Max and I were good luck, because the team started their turnaround from being behind to catch up and win after we arrived.  Yes, remember that, we were the good luck;)  After the game, we had a quick lunch and then home for awhile before we all headed back to AUM for the awards ceremonies.  The IT test awards were at the very end of a long two-hour awards presentation.  We sat there with Max's sponsor, hoping that the wait would be worth it...and it was!  Max came in 1st in his category!!  Another Whew!

We were so proud of the boys today -- and would have been with, or without, their new things.
