For the past few years, my family has helped me celebrate Mother's Day with picnics at the grounds of the Alabama Shakespeare Festival in Montgomery. A few days ago, we learned that the weather forecasts included major thunderstorms for today, so we made alternative plans to cookout and eat at home (because I hate waiting in the long restaurant lines on Mother's Day). Last night we stopped by Home Depot and picked up my Mother's Day Present before stopping by Fresh Market for groceries for our Mother's Day lunch.
Well, we woke this morning to a day of sunshine, not thunderstorms. But, earlier, I awoke to the sound of a six year-old complaining of an earache. So, we decided to keep our rainy day plans to eat at home so we could get Desi to the doctor sooner. We had a lovely dinner of bacon-wrapped filet, garlic and rosemary potatoes and snow peas sauteed with garlic and ginger...followed by a trip to Pri-Med. Yes, he had an ear infection. But, with the wonders of modern medicine, he is on the mend already.
Max, Desi and Lauren each gifted me with treasures before church and my M&Ms Secret Pal left me a goody-bag at church.
I am a blessed woman.
And, today is my little brother, David's, 39th birthday. I remember the day he was born. It was Mother's Day 1969. Happy Birthday, Davie!
