delighting in the word

I am 47 years old and I have never read the entire Bible. For whateveer reason, every time I have attempted in the past to read through the Bible, I failed. I always felt like it was a chore. I know it should not be a chore. So, earlier this year I prayed a specific prayer. I asked the Lord to make me have a deep, strong desire in my heart for his Word.

I posted back in March that Dan bought me a new Bible. It seems that day was a turn around in my life. Over the past two months since I received my new Bible (and actually started reading it daily), I have began to delight in the Word. I have been amazed at how I just don't want to put the book down when I start to read each day. I am currently reading some from 2 Samuel, 1 Chronicles, and the Psalms about Samuel annointing Saul and then David to be King. I do not know if it is this version of the Bible, or God's work on me, but I have found so much humor and action in the books I have read so far. Sometimes I just laugh. That has been a surprise, for sure.

So, I challenge you to join me in reading through the Bible this year. You may just be as surprised as I have been.
