from today's readings

These six verses stood out during my reading through Proverbs 10-13.

After Matthew's funeral today, and seeing the strength of his family as well as the giving spirit of so many people around them, these two verses really hit home:

"When the storms of life come, the wicked are whirled away, but the godly have a lasting foundation." Proverbs 10:25

"The generous will prosper; those who refresh others will themselves be refreshed." Proverbs 11:25

During the funeral, Matthew's father, Tony, spoke a few words to us explaining how we are 'vehicles' while we are here on earth and how Matthew was an ambulance who worked so hard to save so many people. That convicted me look at my own life and see what kind of vehicle I have been thusfar in my life. I believe I need to trade in my current model for a new one. I hope these verses will help me make the right choice:

"It is foolish to belittle one's neighbor; a sensible person keeps quiet." Proverbs 11:12

"Your kindness will reward you, but your cruelty will destroy you." Proverbs 11:17

"Fools think their own way is right., but the wise listen to others." Proverbs 12:14

"Pride leads to conflict; those who take advice are wise." Proverbs 13:10
