a day of gratitude - 15

I am at the halfway point of my 30 days of gratitude and believe it has been a beneficial exercise. I hope that this experience will help me to continue to look at the good things happening in my life and not to dwell on the negative. Sometimes I start digging that hole. Please let that shovel be lost.

Dan and I joined Lauren for a reception at Huntingdon College in honor of the 2008 Lipscomb Scholars (of which Lauren is one of thirty). Following the required chit chat with some of the professors, we all headed across the street to the Montgomery Country Club for a dinner. We enjoyed a dinner that included pecan-crusted chicken, wild rice, and steamed squash. We started with a salad that was, well, I am not quite sure how to describe it. I would not choose to have it served to me again, though. The chicken was quite tender and even Lauren ate it. We finished the meal with a very large portion of tasty chocolate cheesecake. I could not finish mine, if you can believe that. Lauren came home with a goody bag (Huntingdon lunch bag) filled with various Huntingdon paraphernalia along with the feeling that she knew where she wanted to attend college. It was not Huntingdon.

Yes, it looks like I need to practice up on my War Eagle!

And, again, I am grateful to the Speer's for watching the boys while we attended the dinner this evening. Good people, they are.
