Today I will tell you about a little boy named Jake who is in Desmond's Kindergarten class. Last week he had surgery to correct a problem with his hip -- a surgery that left him in a body cast from the top of his chest to his knees. He came home from the Children's Hospital yesterday afternoon. They are estimating that he will be in this cast for 5-8 weeks which means there is a chance he will not return this school year. Desmond cares very much for Jake and has been touched by the ordeal. Even under his tough exterior, inside there beats a loving, caring heart.
Sometimes I need reminding, but I am very grateful that Desmond is my son. Although he did not come from my body, he did grow in my heart.
