a day of gratitude - 24

During my lifetime, I have had a few good friends. I was not one of those people in high school, or college, that had a multitude of friends. Oh, I had acquaintances and people that I hung out with but usually only one person at a time that I was really close to. In Jr. High School and High School that person was my cousin, Anita. Then for a few years, I really did not have a close girlfriend. After my first year away at college, I met my friend, Linda. We have stayed in contact over the years, but living in different states did not encourage a close relationship. When I met Dan, he became my best friend and, although I had 'friends', I did not have a close girlfriend for many years. You know, the kind who you want to talk to everyday about life.

Dan and I joined the Mulder Church about 7 1/2 years ago. Little did I know that Barbara visited the church for the first time on the same day that Dan and I did. In fact, I did not meet Barbara until several months after we had joined the church. It was when she started singing with the Praise Team. I will always remember the first time I sang with her. She was singing my part. Now, if you have not ever sang with me, you do not understand the ramifications of that statement. I owned that part, you know;) It was mine and I did not want to share it! God had such a sense of humour in bringing Barb into my life because now I have a hard time singing without her there next to me. He definitely taught me a lesson in pride and selfishness.

I love singing with Barb. But, more importantly, we have grown to be the best of friends. She is truly like the sister I never had and I feel so very blessed to have her in my life.
