a day of gratitude - 28

Today I am grateful that my mother taught me how to sew. Do you remember my earlier post about the $32.99 prom dress? Well, it fit perfectly except for it's length, which was several inches too long. I have known for weeks that it needed hemming. But, like so many other procrastinations in my life, I waited until today, the day before the prom, before I started working on it. When I finally looked at it, I realized that the hem was a petal/scallop shape. It was pretty, but, according to Lauren, unnecessary. I was thrilled to hear those words, because a straight hem would be so much easier. I was able to complete the alteration in under three hours (including hemming one of the inner liners).
